On March 26, 2019, accompanied by Prof. Wang Zhibiao of National Engineering Research Center of Ultrasound Medicine, internationally renowned urologists from Oxford University Hospitals including Prof. Freddie Hamdy, Director of Surgery, Women's and Oncology Division, Dr. David Cranston, Director of Urology Department, and Consultant Urological Surgeon Dr. Tom Leslie visited Suining Central Hospital (SCH).
At 9 am, Prof. Freddie Hamdy and his party arrived at the hospital. A meeting was held at Conference Room 3, in which Vice President of SCH Chen Liang gave a brief introduction about SCH, Vice Director of Gynecology Department Luo Shuang introduced the application of HIFU in our hospital, and Director of Urology Department Feng Yougang made a preliminary report on a clinical trial being conducted currently in our hospital. Prof. Freddie Hamdy remarked, it was his first time to be here in SCH and he saw the development of Chinese hospitals, particularly the great progress SCH had made in minimally invasive and non-invasive technologies, which the British medical community could learn a lot from. He paid special attention to the ongoing clinical research in the Urology Department and commented that "This is an epochmaking tremendous progress, which will certainly change the treatment guidelines for this kind of diseases". Dr. David Cranston said, he came to our hospital for the second time and noticed that SCH had made huge progress in the last five years. He hoped that by exchanging the Chinese treatment experience with that of Oxford University Hospitals in UK, patients would be less harmed. Accompanied by President of SCH Chen Yongjun, the visiting group visited the HIFU Center, central garden, and Hedong Branch of our hospital after the meeting.
Prof. Freddie Hamdy joined Oxford in October 2008 as Head of the Nuffield Department of Surgery, Nuffield Professor of Surgery, Professor of Urology and Honorary Consultant Urological Surgeon as well as Fellow of Balliol College.
